There's no blame for the crisis we are in. Any intelligent, technological species has the potential to become a magnificent flowering of consciousness, but the side effects of its rapid evolution mean that it only has a short window of time to complete it's evolutionary journey. Contemplating the end of our species could in itself be the wake-up call we need, and accomplish our "end" in the sense of purpose.
